Construction Activities
These group activities encourages all members of the team to contribute their ideas and strategies to complete a unique construction activity. The most successful teams are those who collaborate and value each team member's suggestion, while contributing ideas to their ultimate design.
Soapbox Derby
The team's goal is to design and build the fastest race car. Each team will design and sketch out their car's blueprint before beginning assembly. The soapbox car must be capable of steering, braking, and hold a designated number of people. The teams race their vehicles through a fun and challenging course.
Raft Building
Team Raft Building is a fun filled team problem solving experience which we offer to groups. In Team Raft Building, each team constructs a raft out of selected materials, and must "float their boat" around a given point and return to shore. Materials include: inner tubes, wood, raft building PVC, connectors and more. As few as three people to over a dozen people can be on the raft.
Team Barge Construction
Given the same supplies, each team must construct a miniature ship that is less than three feet long to float over a course, all while carrying the most cargo on board as possible.
Bridge Building
Team members construct a bridge to span an expanse with specified materials. This bridge is to be designed to hold as much weight as possible. The weight will be attached to the bridge to test the bridge's weight tolerances. The team that constructs a bridge that holds the most weight wins!
Team Blimp Construction
Each team will construct a team blimp (similar to that of the Goodyear™ blimp) to carry as much weight as possible over and across an expansive course. Small weights must be attached and carried by the teams' blimp flying creation.
Balloon Towers
Teams are given supplies and minor structural devices to construct a self-supporting tower. They must make the tower as high as possible.
